WORKS ON SCREEN
Marcel Gagnon
Le Grand Rassemblement is located at the Centre d’Art Marcel Gagnon on the shores of the St. Lawrence River in Sainte-Flavie, province of Quebec. In 1986, the artist created Le Grand Rassemblement, a work of art-nature in continuous transformation, unique in the world. These approximately 80 human-height sculptures emerging from the river are transformed under the eyes of visitors, depending on the tides and whims of nature. This work can be considered metaphorical of the arrival in Quebec of many immigrants by this majestic waterway... |
Jason deCaires Taylor
This British artist has made his specificity of the creation of underwater sculptures. Drawing on his experience, he has managed to combine art and ecology and offers an extraordinary public exhibition space. He's drawing our attention with The Raft of Lampedusa in reference to the Radeau de La Méduse, the most famous work of the French painter Theodore Géricault. A symbol of the migration crisis to Europe, these sculptures are submerged 15 meters deep in Lanzarote off the coast of the Canary Islands. |

Marie Linda Bluteau – Bluto
Performing artist and also educator, Marie Linda creates ephemeral drawings. From Cirque du Soleil to Native American legends, she magically transforms grains of sand into stories with her agile fingers. It was her work with La NEF around the musical tale Ulysses that allowed me to discover her. |

Elena Perlino
Italian photographer living in Paris, Elena Perlino is interested in humans and their vulnerability. His Pipeline series on human trafficking caught our attention in 2014, during the 10th edition of the Vendôme Photographic Promenades. “I don’t want to photograph women in miniskirts; what interests me is what’s behind it. » she will tell me during our discussions. International Photography Meetings in Gaspésie and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Montréal have allowed Elena Perlino to work since 2017 with the Innu communities of Quebec. |

Elena Rosa
Italian performing artist, Elena is one of the founders of the Spazio Oscena in Catania. She initiates several projects that include the voiceless. She is, among other things, the creator of the performative project 'Ntuppatedde which, since 2013, has involved many women in an immersion on the occasion of the feast of Sant'Agata. This manifestation of the ‘Ntuppatedde a revival of an updated ancient ritual – taking place in Catania from February 3 to 5 caught our attention. Perhaps also because I never tire of the black and white photography to which Daniele Vita infuses her vision.

Daniela Fiorentino
While we were looking, with the sound designer and editor Catherine Van Der Donckt, for an Italian voice to illustrate or inhabit certain sequences of the film, Katia Makdissi-Warren pointed us towards Daniela Fiorentino. Daniela is a singer and actress of Neapolitan origin, with a strong international vocation, and is actively dedicated to her eclectic career in musical theater and stage performance. And what about those exciting moments that Daniela and Alex gave us at the premiere of AFTER THE ODYSSEY at the Museum Cinema on February 19, 2024!

Étienne Lafrance
We were also looking to create more impressionistic passages. Katia suggested we work with double bassist Étienne Lafrance. A moment of pure improvisational delight in Prim’s studio where we recorded magnificent passages… |
